A Very Happy Birthday

This weekend Athy College celebrates its fourth birthday on the Education Campus.  In that four years it has
  • More than doubled its enrolment
  • won JP McManus Scholarship for exceptional Leaving Cert results
  • Won first place in Junior Cert woodwork project
  • chosen as a network school for  the new Junior Cert
  • Achieved UCD Scholars Award
  • over the past 18 months created 13 new jobs
  • did national presentations on Instructional Leadership  to Minister for Education, at EU Presidency Conference and to Feilte conference
  • installed sculptures in excess of €60,000
  • is installing floodlights and ball stop netting valued €100,000 (in progress)
  • facilitated most of the sports clubs in the region and helped establish some
  • been home to the Athy Film Club
  • developed the Summer Language School
  • Piloted new technology in education by introducing Moodle and Mahara
  • reached all Ireland playoffs in Volleyball
  • reached regional finals in basketball
  • hosted TriAthy
  • and much much more…..
Over recent months we have applied to the Department of Education for an extension to accommodate the ever increasing number of students applying for entry each year.
