The Hare Queen
Under the Percent for Art Scheme Athy College commissioned two individual pieces to be located on the college grounds.
The Hare Queen The Hare Queen is a bronze sculpture 2.5 metros high which sits on a Wicklow grant base. the sculpture by Fidelma Massey was designed to celebrate the hares which co-exist on the college site. The Hare Queen is the mother of the hares, their deity/protectress - one of Mother Nature's many guises. She holds the crescent moon in her ears. Hares have always been associated with the Moon. Sleeping Hare A stone sculpture by Aileen Anne Brannigan of the Hare compliments other stone carvings by the same sculptress throughout the campus.
